GOVERNANCE GONE WRONG

Ted’s recent publication delives into the governance failures at Theranos, as revealed during the trial testimonies. The company's promise of a revolutionary device capable of performing extensive tests from a tiny blood sample captivated both the medical and investment communities. However, the device was never properly validated, and numerous false claims by its founder led to the firm's collapse and criminal convictions. The trial highlighted key governance issues: a board lacking relevant expertise, insufficient advisor engagement, broken trust between management and employees, and inadequate due diligence by investors. These lessons are vital for physician-scientists and health executives to avoid similar pitfalls and ensure rigorous validation and governance in their ventures.

TED MENTORS
DJs AND BREAKDANCERS

Ted is a volunteer mentor for young artist as part of the SoHo House Creative Futures Collective. Creative Futures Collective was founded in 2019 by Jai Al-Attas & Markie Bryant with the mission to unearth and empower the next generation of creative leaders from disenfranchised or system impacted communities. “My last two mentees were a breakdancer and a DJ” notes Ted. “I mentored Henny as he prepared a successful grant to create Hall Pass —- a vibrant, inclusive arena for young creatives to connect, create, and enjoy human interaction.”
